This clever contests asks readers to show off their most creative Goodwill outfits. The winner receives a Merle Norman makeover, $100 gift certificate to Goodwill, and best of all, to be featured on an upcoming Moments Magazine cover!

A brand new Lowe’s is opening near CIKR-FM (Kingston, Ontario) at the end of this month. In honor of their grand opening, the rock station decided to go on a hunt for their worst local handyman. Listeners submit photos of their failed (or the “I’ll-fix-it-next-weekend”) project in hopes to win a gift certificate to the Home Improvement Warehouse – who sponsored the contest. The 10 worst entries receive a $150 gift card and are finalists for the grand prize (a $1,500 Lowe’s gift card!), which will be announced at the grand opening celebration. A fantastic example of an advertiser-centric contest!

The San Diego Union-Tribune ran a sweepstakes for local Honda owners in which they win a makeover valued at $2,000 from one of 9 local dealerships who participated in the contest. To make a good contest even better, a heartfelt video of one of the winners receiving her Honda makeover is posted on the contest’s welcome page. What a fantastic idea to run around the holidays.

In a multi-sponsored contest (grand total = 19), the paper offers readers a chance to spruce up their home with a new and improved door. The scrolling sponsor list is marvelous – what a genius way to include all participating sponsors’ logos.
