Pet contests are one of the most popular contests run on UPICKEM. KFMB-TV (San Diego, CA) put a truly unique spin on their “Is Your Pet A Couch Potato?” contest. Pets are always hanging out on our furniture and ruining cushions, so it’s only fitting that Lawrence (furniture store) was the exclusive sponsor of this sharp-looking contest. Not only is this an adorable contest, but it supports a good cause as well – for everyone who likes KFMB-TV’s Facebook Page, they will make a donation to Helen Woodward Animal Center. Excellent contest!

We’ve said it once, we’ll say it again: pet contests are a must-do for everyone. Just taking a peek at this stellar pet photo contest from KOB-TV (Albuquerque, NM) should spark some inspiration for you to design your own.
With fun graphics, one awesome promotional video, 1,386 submissions (and counting!), “Lucky Dog Photo Contest” is shaping up to be a winner. The best part? Six dogs will be selected to appear on New Mexico Lottery’s upcoming “Lucky Dog” scratchers. What a fantastic and unique spin on a pet contest!

What a fright! FOX 4 (Kansas City, MO) hosts this Halloween pet costume costume for their viewers. With a perfectly-themed (and a little bit scary) logo, and great prizes ($300 to Price Chopper or $200 gift card to McCarthy Automotive Group), this photo contest is a sweet holiday treat!

Show off your precious pet and help out rescue organizations with this photo contest hosted by Triangle.com and News and Observer (Raleigh, NC). Users can submit their pet for a fee and buy votes in order to help their pet win; winner gets to be featured in the 2011 Adorable Pet Calendar. 10% of all proceeds from the contest and 100% of calendar sales are donated to local nonprofit pet rescue associations. What a great contest!

Show off your love for your best friend – your pup! Newsday (Suffolk, NY) runs their very first UPICKEM contest very successfully with several sponsors – Invisible Fence, NYCpet.com, Mutts & Butts, Pet Central and Total Pet Care – and a very well-designed welcome page. Fantastic work!
